Which Michigan cities have the oldest homes?
Among the Michigan cities we cover, Detroit (typical home built 1947) and Saginaw (1949) have the oldest housing, so original wiring and old panels come up more there. Novi has the newest (typical home built 1993), and the usual job there is room for a charger or a heat pump.
Do I need a permit for electrical work in Michigan?
Often, yes. Panel and service work, new circuits and rewiring normally need a permit and an inspection, while replacing a fixture or a device on an existing circuit often does not. Rules are set locally, so ask on the call and the permit is normally pulled as part of the job.
Can I get an electrician in Michigan at night?
Yes, for emergencies. Our line is answered 24 hours a day. Tell us what's happening and we'll get a licensed electrician out who takes after-hours calls. The Michigan emergency page covers what to do until help arrives.
